Healthy eating at Rhymes
Mealtimes are relaxed and sociable occasions with an adult at each table to help the children use cutlery correctly and acquire basic table manners such as asking politely for something. The member of staff will also ensure a suitable diet is provided for your child’s individual needs, in conjunction with the usual nursery menu. This includes checking child records for allergies or special dietary or cultural requirements.
We believe healthy eating habits established early in life lay the foundation for a life time of good nutrition and our menus are based around this philosophy. Meals are freshly prepared by our cook out of harm’s way in our nursery kitchen. Seasonal fruit and vegetables are ordered each week and menus, incorporating nutritional requirements, are based around these and displayed in the nurseries.
Baby meals
Parents are always consulted about the meals we give to babies. We do not introduce new foods to the children when they are in our care, in case the child has an allergy or intolerance. Working with our parents, we suggest when they have had the new food 3-4 times at home, they let us know and we will introduce it at nursery.
